This website contains photos taken by Kristopher and Bobbie during their backyard bird watching.  They not only take the photos, but they must identify the birds.

We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we have enjoyed taking them!  Please come back again soon!  New pictures are added weekly!

Check out the bird calls we have added to some of the pages!

This is our first robin of Spring!  During our recent March snowstorm, we caught her sitting in the pine tree trying to stay warm!

The American Robin eats both fruit and invertebrates. Earthworms are important , but fruit is the main diet during winter. Robins eat different types of food depending on the time of day; they eat earthworms early in the day and more fruit later in the day.

What does a Robin sound like?

CARDINAL

There are only a few red birds.  The Cardinal is the only one with a crest on its head.  The female is light brown and also has a crest.

Cardinals do not migrate.  They stay all year long.  They like to eat sunflower seeds, insects and fruit.  We feed them sunflower seeds, but they also eat the berries off our bushes.

In the 1800s Cardinals were much-sought-after cage birds highly valued for their color and song. Thousands were trapped in the south in the winter and sent to northern markets, and thousands more were sent to Europe. This trade ceased, fortunately, with the passage of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.

A Cardinal sounds like this:
